"Sculpture" in the literal sense hardly exists anymore. It has now merged into the general term for multidisciplinary 3D design. Although I rarely use a hammer and chisel in my work anymore, I still cherish the name "sculptor" as if it were a badge of honor.
When I embark on the realization of a spatial concept, form, color, anatomical structure, and material usage essentially serve a supporting role. The essence of an object, for me, is not only found in its formal construction but mainly in the convergence of complex parts, which brings all individual sensory perceptions together into a single metaphysical experience.
The motivations of artists are as diverse as the types of "art" created. Personally, I feel little need to be carried away by any -ism. -Isms often indicate time-bound, collectively pursued outbursts, whereas a "good" work, in my view, transcends time and is autonomous.
In my work, I explore the representation of the interaction between the individual and their environment from a historical perspective. I delve into questions of identity and its vulnerability. Here, the aesthetic and the abject often blend into each other, representing the unity of opposites.
Highlighted could be a series of dome-shaped objects, where the boundaries between sculpture and architecture blur. They can be seen as autonomous sculptures or organisms, but also as models for structures with a diameter of 20 meters or more.
